7th Grde Baseball Weekly Recap - May 2nd 2010

The 7th grade baseball team is currently on a 6-game winning streak winning all four of their games last week. They are getting better day in and day out and playing stellar baseball. In the four wins this week the Panthers were led by solid pitching performances by Ryan Merrick, Brice Montes, Zac Carlisle, Matt Myers, Frankie Weireck, and Michael Pagano. Line drives and ground balls have sparked the hitting and scoring category for the offense of the 7th graders; Dustin Meier and Alex Pearce each hit a home run as well. The infield and outfield were basically error-less led by Merrick, Green, McCafferty, Thacker, Morgan, Carlisle, Pagano, Carothers, Myers, Meier, Varda, and Blair. On Friday the Panthers were down 7-0 after the first inning and rallied back to win in extra innings 10-8. It was a great come back and way to end the week that was ignited by Josh Blair and Hayden Wetmore. The Panthers play three games next week and hope to keep the winning streak alive.

7th Grade Panther Baseball Weekly Recap - April 26th, 2010

The 7th grade Panthers have gotten into a groove over the past week. They ended the week 2-2 after dropping the first two games of the week and are playing great. Ryan Merrick successfully pitched a no-hitter in 5 innings on Wednesday, and Zac Carlisle followed that performance by pitching a complete game and only allowing 3 runs to score. Brennan Green, Tyler McCafferty, Cameron Thacker, and Hunter Morgan have been great in the infield, and the catchers Pagano and Carothers threw out a total of 5 base runners in Thursday's game against Gahanna. Matt Myers has stepped out of his comfort zone to play left field and is doing great at it. The Panthers play 5 games.

7th Grade Panther Baseball News April 18, 2010

Lakeview's 7th grade baseball team began their season Monday, April 12. After a long spring break they started off the week "rusty," but they showed a lot of improvement day after day. After ending the week 1-3 they will look to turn it around this week against four tough teams. Frankie Weireck pitched 5 innings in the first win for the panthers. Other pitchers that have been standing out are Ryan Merrick, Dustin Meier, Wesley Hanlon, Matt Myers, Brice Montes, and Zac Carlisle. Bennan Green has been playing excellent at shortstop, and Hunter Morgan gives our infield a true first baseman that stops and scoops anything thrown to him. Tyler McCafferty has been playing three positions because of his immense athletic ability, and his performance has been great in the field and at bat. More players like Pagano, Whetmore, Varda, and Dilg have made huge impacts hitting the ball for us when their opportunities come about. As a team, we hope to bring it all together this week. We are focusing on more timely hits (not leaving runners stranded) and cutting down the errors (we have improved on this already).
