JV Baseball Weekly Recap - May 9nd 2010
5/3/2010
Monday the Panthers traveled to take on the Wildcats of Newark in an
OCC game. Andrew Hesch took the mound and pitched solidly only giving
up one run. The Panther offense exploded for 11 runs. Zach Olszewski
hit a homerun. Ryan Miller, Cameron Huey, Nolan Rudolph, and Andrew
Hesch added to the offense with 2 hits each. Panther beat Newark 11-1.
5/5/2010
Wednesday the Panthers hosted Grove City for another OCC league game.
The Greyhounds beat the Panthers earlier in the year in a close 5-4
game. Kyle Goddard took the hill for the Panthers and struck out 7 in 7
innings of work. Matt Poland threw out 3 Greyhound base runners trying
to steal. Matt Murtha scored had 2 extra base hits and scored 3 runs,
and Corey Black and Ryan Miller had multi hit games leading the Panther
offense to an 8-5 win over a solid Greyhound team.
5/6/2010
Thursday the Panther traveled to Pataskala to take on Watkins Memorial.
Erik Tessmer started on the mound for the Panthers and struck out 5
Warriors in 5 innings. Ryan Miller scored 3 runs with 3 hits and Nate
Shevelow had a multi hit game as the Panthers beat Watkins 13-6.
5/8/2010
Saturday the Panthers hosted DeSales for a DH. The Stallions beat an
unfocused Panther team on the first game of the season. Andrew Hesch
started for the Panthers and did a great job mix pitches and keeping
the Stallions off balanced and striking out 5 in 6 innings of work. The
Panthers scored 7 runs in the bottom of the 4th. Kyle Goddard, Ryan
Miller, and Matt Poland all hit triples in the game leading the Panther
offense to a 12-9 victory.
Game 2 Vs DeSales
After 3 innings, the Stallions led 6-0 as they threw a lefty that
baffled the Panther hitters the first time around. The Panther hitters
made the necessary adjustments hitting the ball to the opposite
fielding stringing several back to back hits in a row combined with
some walks and a triple by Eric Roth, the Panthers took a 8-6 lead
going into the 5th. The Panthers added 6 more runs in the bottom of the
5th. The Stallions added a few more runs in the 6th and 7th but not
enough as the Panthers take the sweep of the DH and win 14-10 and
finished the season strong with 8 wins in a row and an overall record
of 18-4.

4/27/2010
The Panthers traveled down state route 256 to take on Reynoldsburg.
Andrew Hesch started for the Panthers and pitched his 3rd complete game
in a row and got the win for the Panthers who also helped his own cause
with 3 hits. Also powering the Panther offense were mutli-hit games by
Eric Roth, Nolan Rudolph, and Ryan Miller.
4/28/2010
The Panthers hosted Gahanna who came into the game with a 20-1 record.
Kyle Goddard pitched for the Panthers and pitched lights out for the
Panthers. Goddard struck out 9 Lions in 8 innings of work. Gahanna led
1-0 going into the bottom of the 7th. Cameron Huey led off the 7th with
a single and Nolan Rudolph came in to pitch run, stole second base and
advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Nate Shevelow. Kyle Goddard
then hit a ground ball to short scoring the speedy Rudolph from third.
In the 8th Corey Black drew a walk and Eric Roth came in to pitch run.
On a key play of the game, Eric Roth stole second base putting the
winning run in scoring position. Tessmer singled sharply to left field
giving the Panthers 1st and 3rd with one out and Brendan Dilg coming to
the plate. The Lions intentionally walked Dilg and to face Cameron
Huey. Huey hits a walk off single over the drawn in outfield securing
the victory for the Panthers 2-1 in 8 innings.
4/30/2010
The Panthers hosted the Gales from Lancaster. Corey Black took the hill
for the Panthers and pitched well for 2 shut out innings before giving
Lancaster their first runs in the third. The Panther offense was
aggressive and added runs in every inning except the 4th. The Panthers
offense was led by Matt Murtha, Erik Tessmer, Cameron Huey, Matt
Poland, and Eric Roth who all had multi hit games.

Pickerington North JV TWIB Notes: April 25th, 2010
4/25/2010 Monday
The Panthers traveled to Grove City to take on a very sound Greyhound
Team. Andrew Hesch took the mound for the Panthers and threw well. The
Greyhounds scored a couple of runs in the first two innings on some
sloppy defense and timely hitting by Grove City. The Greyhounds led 5-1
after 5, but the Panthers came scratching back scoring runs late but
fell just short with the tying run being thrown out at third for the
final out of the game and the Panthers lost 5-4.
4/26/2010 Tuesday
The Panthers hosted cross-town rival Pickerington Central. Nick
Glanzman pitched brilliantly for the Panthers taking a 6-3 lead into
the top of the 7th, but the cross-town rivals were not ready to go home
and tied in the top of the 7th. Kyle Goddard had a walk off single in
the bottom of the 7th driving in the winning run in an 8-7 win for the
Panthers. Cameron Huey also had a couple of hits and RBI’s early in the
game.
4/27/2010
The Panthers hosted Groveport and the Panther offense and defense
started slowly. Groveport was cruising with a 7-1 lead after 3 ½
innings. Brendan Dilg started on the mound for the Panthers and pitched
well only giving up a couple of earned runs and helped his own cause in
the come back with a ground rule double in the bottom of the 4th. The
Panthers eventually took the lead and the score was 10-8 in the 7th but
the Cruisers scored 3 in the top of the 7th with 2 outs when a Cruiser
hit a ball a ball down the line that the umpired pointed foul and then
pointed fair. The Cruisers took an 11-10 lead going into the 7th. The
Panthers tied it and the game went into extra innings. Matt Murtha
pitched 5 innings of relief before handing the ball to Eric Tessmer who
controlled the Cruisers in the 10th. Corey Black singled and advanced
to second base in the 10th inning when Matt Murtha drove in the winning
run. Panther win 12-11 in a marathon 10-inning game.
4/28/2010
The Panthers hosted Watterson for a non-league game. Kyle Goddard took
the hill and pitched very well for 3 innings. Cameron Huey pitched
well in relief only let one Warrior score in 3 innings of work.
Glanzman, Miller, and Black led the Panther offense each having 3 hits
in a 12-8 victory. Nate Shevelow also made a Willie Mays style catch in
a ball that was driven into deep center.
4/29/2010
The Panthers traveled across town to play the Tigers from Pickerington
Central. The Tigers came out swinging and lead 7-1 after 4 innings.
Erik Tessmer pitched in relief and Erik Roth made a great catch in
right field, giving the Panthers a chance for a comeback The Panthers
battled back 9-8 in the top of the 7th but left the tying run on second
base when the Tigers defense made the third out of the inning. Panthers
lose 9-8.
4/30/2010 --- Games rained out.

PHSN JV Baseball ----This week in baseball: April-18, 2010
Monday April 12th,
The JV Panthers traveled to Gahanna. Gahanna 4-1 after 6 innings. In
the top of the 7th, the Gahanna pitching issued a base loaded walk to
make the score 4-2, the Gahanna catcher went to the mound to talk to the
pitcher and failed to ask for time out and Matt Murtha stole home on
the sleeping Lions. Kyle Goddard followed up with a base hit driving in
the tying run. The Lions woke up in the bottom of the 7th and scored
on the winning run with 3 hits in the bottom of the 7th.
Tuesday April 13th
Pickerington hosted Reynoldsburg. Nathan Edwards pitched 3 good innings
and the Panthers battled to score 8 runs against Reynoldsburg pitching
to win 8-3.
Wednesday April 14th
Pickerington traveled to Lancaster. Andrew Hesch was on the mound and
pitched a complete game victory as the Panthers won 12-2. Ryan Miller
and Eric Tessmer led the offense with 3 hits each.
Thursday April 15thThe Panthers traveled to Groveport to take on the
Cruisers. Nick Glanzman struck out 8 batters in 4 innings of work and
the Panthers continued their offense hit parade and beat the Cruiser
13-3.
Friday April 16th
The Panthers hosted Newark. The Panthers had to battle from 5 runs down
scoring runs every inning until the score was 15-5 in favor of the
Panthers. Brendan Dilg pitched struck out 3 Wildcat batters in 2
innings of work.
Saturday April 17th
The Panthers traveled to play Thomas Worthington (10-2). The Panther's
offense struggled early against the Cardinal's lefthanded ace and
trailed 4-0 after 4 innings. The Panther offense kept battling and
pushed across a run in the top of the 5th, and 4 more in the 6th
knocking their ace out of the game. The Panther offense continued to
bunt, run, and hit until scoring 12 runs for the game. The Panthers had
8 stolen bases in the 5th and Zach Olszweski pitched 6 1/3 innings
picking up the win.
Saturday April 17th Game 2
The Panthers played Westerville Central of game 2 of the Satruday DH.
Corey Black pitched a complete game and helped his cause with 3 hits.
The Panthers rolled off 6 wins in a row after a 1-2 start making them
7-2.
